Saturday 9 April 2017 Concerned residents took to the streets at the weekend, placards in hand, to help raise awareness that the proposed new runway at Heathrow airport will mean a further flightpath directly above Brentford over the Green Dragon Estate, New Road, Hamilton Road, Glenhurst Road/Orchard Road, the A4 and Boston Manor Park. The walk was organised by BASHR3 who have the support of Ruth Cadbury MP for Brentford & Isleworth.
In addition to the noise pollution that will effect those under this new flightpath the new 3rd runway to the north of Heathrow airport will dramatically increase the amount of surface traffic travelling through Brentford along the A4 and M4. We are already a pollution hotspot for vehicles emitting harmful NO2 and PM10 so this is very likely to get worse with the increase in cars and lorries driving to and from the airport.
The group are urging people to fill out the consultation on the new runway: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/heathrow-expansion-have-your-say
or to email your views to: RunwayConsultation@dft.gsi.gov.uk
The consultation closes on 25 May 2017.
