Summer 2018 The planting project around Brentford Station looks blooming marvellous, even if we do say so ourselves. The shrubs have thrived, the spring flowers were replaced by summer bulbs, violas, hebes, lavenders, and an unexpected pumpkin plant have added to the variety in the containers on the platform and outside the station. Colourful cornflowers, poppies and summer flowers have livened up the slope beside The Kings Arms pub.
Special thanks to Orchard Road residents and neighbours for helping to water these and keep the plants alive especially in this dry weather and to The Kings Arms for letting us use their water. Read about the winter planting project, the spring project and the seed scattering.
South Western Railway who we have collaborated with on this project are getting some plaques made for us and fully support of our efforts. Some of the plants in the platform containers got squashed during Junction 2 Festival and we’d like to thank the organisers for their donation towards future community planting projects as well.
We secured some CiL funding to plant a hedge along the slope beside Brentford Station and hope to work with South Western Railway to achieve this in the Autumn.
GORGEOUS!
Are there any plans for something similar at Kew Bridge Station? I think you might garner support from the Express Tavern.
