Saturday 6 April 2019 We had a great turnout for our latest community planting project at Boston Manor Road shops opposite Brentford Station, thanks so much to everyone who came out and took part. We had amazing help from volunteers transporting compost from storage in Brook Road South, and especially from Tim and his bike trailer which continued to be of huge support throughout the afternoon carting plants, bricks, compost and containers from one place to another. With permission from the shops we added 5 new containers in between Ann’s Cars taxi rank and the newsagents, these are full of bulbs and seeds so more flowers will be appearing in the coming months. We also put some containers outside Adam’s Barbershop helping to green up this part of Brentford. Outside the laundrette across the road we transformed some old recycling containers cladding them with some wood to make new planters.

We had lots of bulbs and seeds from last year so these were planted on the now-terraced slope we look after in co-ordination with South Western Railway. Compost and bulbs were also put in two old tree trunks on the main slope, and in our existing containers on the platform and outside the station. We also managed to give away lots of free seeds to enthusiastic Brentford FC supporters outside The Kings Arms pub. Many thanks to Hounslow Council Small Grant for funding this.
